Quick Magnetic Do

I have used this polish quite a bit and never noticed it’s lasting power before. Well, I did the magnetic nails again the other day and they started chipping before I even had a chance to take a photo. This is even with a topcoat! Whoa!

Cupcake cutie nails

So, I just posted about this perfectly pretty pale purple piggy paint polish that the boy gave me for Christmas. Well, I also got these metallic blue edible ball bearings for Christmas. I rememibered a 3D nail confetti I got for Christmas a few years ago that was the EXACT SAME COLOR. I had a mission:

MAKE CUPCAKES AND MAINICURE THAT MATCH!

In a stroke of totally goofy creative genius, the mission started. The combo paired perfectly!

The hard part? Photographing it. For some reason the gloss and color of the frosting and bearings showed up differently in pictures. I played with lighting, I played with camera settings. I spent way too much time trying to photograph things.

Obviously, my skin turned all yellow and orange in the above photo, sod clearly the coloring was wrong on this one.

I changed some settings, and the color still didn’t look right. I mean, even my skin is some odd color. What’s going on here?

So I changed some more settings and everything got a sort of grey and dead hue. Hm, this still isn’t right.

I changed lighting and location. The frosting looks way paler than in real life. Who knew frosting would be so impossible.

I tried another setting, and they still looked off. Also, I need to point out that holding a cupcake in a way that you can see your own nails and being able to click the photo button while holding a phone with one hand is not easy! So, please excuse the totally awkward hand poses.
Maybe in some alternative universe, my nail blog goes viral and I get to hire a professional photographer. Ha! I don’t have half the patience to polish this blog so it looks professional and revenue-worthy (see what I did there?? Polish the blog!? Ah, yes, I crack myself up. It must be all the polish fumes).

At this point, the boy’s mouth is watering and he wants to eat some cupcakes. They did smell pretty good. So, I had to forgo taking pictures like an obsessed amateur and sit down and mom on some cupcakes. Yes, we are ALL OF THEM! Actually, they ended up lasting a while. The frosting slowly blurred the sprinkles, but remained fresh and tasty.

Piggy Paint!

The boy gave me this delightful new polish called Piggy Paint. He likes the piggies, so this is the perfect polish for him to give me.

The cool thing about this polish isn’t it’s name, though, it’s the ingredients. Thier website says it all:

Piggy Paint is a non-toxic, low odor, kid-friendly nail polish. It’s safe for all ages and a great alternative to solvent-based nail polishes.

It is a smooth, opaque color that is deep and rich in tone and easy to apply. It doesn’t smell like the typical high-VOC polish, this smells more like latex housepaint.

Fancy Pants Pedicure

Honestly, it wasn’t for me. I did it for a friend. It was a pedicure emergency. She needed a pedicure, I mean needed one. These things happen sometimes. Girls, even if you’ve never had one, you know exactly what it means to need one. So, I came to the salon, too, you know, as support.

I didn’t have high expectations, I mean, my nails were already looking pretty good. I selected a bottle with little disks of confetti. Various cool purple tones made up the confetti. I’m not sure why I picked it. I had my own bottle that had little circles like this, and I disliked the results so much I got rid of the bottle. Me, get rid of something? You know it had to be bad. But this polish turned out amazing. It looks like the nest part of an impressionist painting. The heart of a flower on Monet’s canvas.

It looks so good, I may have to go back and get a manicure like this so I can stare at it more. I’m not sure if this polish was just that much better or it the results are owed to the nail technician. She did use a practiced touch in applying the bits.

Lustrious purple

This little tiny bottle of purple gifted to me by the boy’s mother is still holding strong. I worried it would dry up in the tiny bottle, but it remained smooth and easy to apply. And what a divine, royal color! It looked good with just one coat, but I felt compelled to add another. In the photos you can see the difference; the pointer finger has two coats, the rest have one.

These delightful toes were painted with Essense Color and Go polish. I love the brightness of them, and how the color shines differently in the sunlight versus the shadows.

You can sorta see it in the photo, the toes on one side are in the shadow and the big toe on the other side is in the sunlight. Hard to fully capture, but it’s there. Looks good, methinks.
