Sunny Summer Solstice Nails

I wanted something that celebration growth of the season. So I added golden confetti to symbolize the sun over green to represent the plant life that depend on the sun. While its a color combo that doesn’t really match any of my clothing (darn!) I think the nails look pretty good!

This one is just silly. It’s not even a very good pedicure. Just cracked me up though how the shimmer gold nail polish disappeared in the carpet! Ha!

Party Rock in the New Year

image
Whether I party or not, I gotta do New Year’s nails. And, for some unknown reason, the law of New Year’s nails is that they must include glitter. Above is the finished nail in natural light.

I used two colors from the Christmas gift pack that my mother gave me (thanks mom!). China Glaze’s 1260 “Mingle With Kringle” provides the base. See the base without the glitter on this post.

Then on top, I tried what I call “the fade” with China Glaze 1259 “Bells Will Be Ringing”. I’ve mentioned it before, but I am really into glitter on the tips. The extra layer of polish on the tips seems to help the manicure last longer, as it is the edges that chip off first for me. The thicker tip I think also helps prevent chipping. Though, as I learned, full on cracks below the skin are not out of the question! Anyway, the most annoying thing about glitter is it takes FOR EVER to remove at the end of the week. Well, with only half the nail glittered, you only have to remove half as much!

I painted one layer of glitter half way down the nail, then painted a second layer half way down the first layer of glitter. Lastly, I painted a thin strip of glitter on the edge of the nail. The glitter tones down the vibrant effect of the gold nail, but, I really like the fun result!

Do unto others….

My mother got me a China Glaze polish 3-pack for Christmas. It includes “Mingle With Kringle” 1260 81398, a deep shimmery gold with a fine sparkle to it. I look at it and think of the Golden Rule. Which makes sense, as my mother, having gotten me the gift, is unendingly generous and asks for nothing in return. Anyway, I am not a fan of gold as an accessory. It comes across gaudy and aged to me. But gold as a nail color, something I never before considered, is fantastic!
I love how it maintains a glitter like shimmer without being a sparkle polish. I also love the way China Glaze brushes on. It is thick, yet smooth. China Glaze is very easy to apply.
Here is a picture of the polish indoors:
