Marry Christmas to all and to all a good night. I wanted to go over the top this year for my Christmas nails. I chose a black base and used a makeup sponge to blot intense glitter on the top and bottom of the nails. B helped me decide whether top of the nail should be red or green, and I think he made a good choice. However, after the manicure was finished, he pointed out that my nails look like strawberries! Now that’s all I can see! It took a few days for me to realize thatt it’s not real strawberries they look like, but the strawberry candies that you get in the sausage and cheese gift sets from Hillshire Farms at the mall. Needless to say, I love this holiday manicure, and I got a lot of compliments for it. May your holiday be filled with sparkle!

I wanted to do a manicure that got me into the holiday spirit, but wasn’t too FULL ON holidays, you know, cause it’s too early for that. So I decided to blend a metallic teal with emerald green glitter. Now, I should tell you that I actually painted these nails over 5 days ago. I just took pictures today and look how fresh they are stil! Surre, there is a little bit of wear at the tips, but no chips yet to speak of. This glitter bottle is not very dense, so I applied it with a makeup sponge and lots of layers. Because I added so many layers of glitter, I used my “peel away base coat for glitter”. It may be a long time before I get to paint my nails again. This stuff may never come off.
I wanted to do a special color in honor of the Emerald City Bike Ride. Here it is! Perfect! This “free spirit” has a subtle see that makes it interesting.
Nothing too crazy to post here, this is just a lovely teal color that I had to put on my nails because spring is here and green is popping up outside everywhere!
Man, I love Sinful colors. Cheap, smooth, long-lasting and easy to apply.
I decided to glitter up my nails for St. Patrick’s Day, and boy did I get lucky! My color choice ended up making the glitter looks like a field of clover. It doesn’t translate real well in photos, but every time I look at my nails, I expect to find little 4-leaf clovers lost in the design.
I started out with a light teal for the background color. For some reason, I tend to use golds and yellows to pair with my greens, and I grew tired of being mistaken for an Oregon Ducks Fan (I went to thier rival school- Oregon State. So this is a catestrophic problem!)
Then I added Jade green confetti glitter on top. The result is spectacular! I feel like I won a pot of gold! Have a happy day, everyone!
These nails were amazingly fun to create and even more fun to look at. I completed this look this morning using Sinful “innocent” a retro light mossy green for a base and Sally Hansen Complete salon manicure for a emetap green shamrock design on top. I stamped the clover face from Shany SH219 on each nail, and overlayed a swirley garden stamp from plate SH211 on some of the nails.
At first I thought the clover design was too wide and too short, and transfered too blurry. I imagined a crispness like a sticker or stencil. But, once I got over my expectation, I began to see my nails more like a bohemian patchwork. Each time I looked at them over the course of the day, they got better and better, culminating in a “damn girl.” Yeah, I think I’m gonna like this stamping.
After having some snowmen nails, I decided it was time for some Christmas nails. Stay tuned for Santa hats next time! I love getting in the spirit!
The festive, party-themed confetti is from a Color Craze L.A. Colors gift pack that the boy’s mom gave me for Christmas last year. I love the colors in this one! I did have to lay on several thick coats to get this effect, but it dried quickly and didn’t smudge.
Its so hard to find a decent green color. But I finally found one. Love it! This is Pure Ice Free Spirit. I have a feeling it will become a new favorite.
And, the green you see here was achieved with only ONE coat! Can you believe it?!
If you haven’t noticed, I LOVE holiday-themed nails. These shamrock decals had a hard time matching the curve of my nails, they kept curling up at the edges. I kept trying to squish them back down and hold them to the curve of the nail, to the point that they were squishing the moist polish below. I ladled top coat on as well. We’ll see if they last until St. Patrick’s Day!
I do love the Sinful greens and green/gold glitter. What fun colors for the end of winter!
